Welcome to Bagsta (https://bagsta.app/). We built this to help you get outside, bag challenges, and track your progress. By using Bagsta, you agree to these combined terms and privacy rules. We hate legal jargon, so we've kept this as simple and honest as possible.

1. Using Bagsta & Your Safety

  • Play Safe: Bagsta provides lists of challenges (hills, trig points, castles, etc.). Getting to them is entirely your responsibility. Always check the weather, dress properly, don't trespass, and use common sense. We are not liable for any injuries, accidents, or getting lost while you're out bagging places.
  • App Availability: Bagsta runs in your browser and can be saved to your home screen. While we try to keep it online 24/7, we can't guarantee it will always work perfectly, especially when you are standing on top of a remote, windy hill with no phone signal.

2. Accounts & Content

  • Keep it Real: If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
  • Leaderboards & Visibility: Bagsta is a social challenge app. When you log a "bagged" location or climb a leaderboard, your username, public profile info, and completion stats will be visible to other users.
  • Your Content: If we add features allowing you to upload photos, notes, or routes, you retain ownership of your content, but you grant Bagsta a free license to display it within the app. Do not upload anything offensive, illegal, or that breaks copyright rules.

3. Privacy & Your Data (GDPR)

We take your data privacy seriously and comply fully with UK GDPR principles.

What We Collect & Why

  • Account Info: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and username to manage your account, save your progress, and send rare system or update emails.
  • Your "Bags": We store the dates, times, and locations of the places you tick off to build your profile, calculate your stats, and run the leaderboards.
  • Location Data: Bagsta relies on knowing where you are to help you tick off locations. We only request your GPS location when you explicitly ask the app to check your position. We use it instantly to verify your location and do not track your movements in the background.
  • Technical Data: We automatically gather anonymous data (IP address, browser type, device type) to troubleshoot bugs, monitor performance, and improve the application.

Storage & Retention

  • Your data is securely stored on cloud servers located within the UK/EU.
  • We keep your account data for as long as your account remains active. If you want your account and all your progress permanently deleted, just drop us an email and we will wipe it instantly from our live systems.

4. Third Parties & Cookies

  • No Selling: We will never sell, swap, or rent your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes. Period.
  • Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services to keep Bagsta running (such as secure cloud hosting, database management, and basic analytics tools). These partners only process data on our instructions and must comply with strict data protection laws.
  • Cookies: We use small cookies to keep you logged in and to analyze anonymous site traffic so we can make the app better. You can block cookies in your browser settings, but the app might forget who you are every time you close it.
