The Cheviots

Hedgehope Hill

Climb up 714m to bag Hedgehope Hill in The Cheviots.

Hedgehope Hill

Hedgehope Hill is one of the big guns in the Cheviots and bagging this one is a must. Sitting at 714m it is the second highest hill just behind the Cheviot Summit.

You have a few ways to climb this. If you have just bagged the Cheviot, then you can approach via Comb Fell, however this is boggy in all weathers. Or you can approach from Linhope via the Great Standrop and Little Standrop.

The quickest and easiest way (and maybe the steepest) is to park in Langleeford and then head straight up to Housey Crags, over Long Crags and then directly up Hedgehope Hill.

Here is a view from half way up. The best thing about taking this photo was the 30 second rest it gave my legs!

Once at the top, you will be greeted by the Hedgehope Hill trig point.

It's 3.5km from the parking and then a whopping 529m of ascent.
