The Cheviots

Madam Law

Climb up 397m to bag Madam Law in The Cheviots.

Madam Law

Another wander this time took me off exploring the north west corner of the Northumberland National Park and one of the hills to bag was Madam Law.

You can get to this from Hethpool, but if you are just bagging Madam Law, then there is a shorter route from Kirk Yetholm. For this route, you simply follow the Pennine Way, skirting Green Humbleton Hillfort, past the Stob Stones until you get to Wideopen Head.

Then keep the fence line to your right as you head up to the top of Madam Law. A tumulus marks the top of the hill.

Don't worry if you're the wrong side of the fence (like I was), just keeping going another 200m to a gate.

Route map data could not be displayed.

Follow the route above or find it on OS Maps. Just over 3km and 283m of climbing.

There is a big grassy verge east of Kirk Yetholm on the Pennine Way where you can park your car.
